Description
Creamy Halloween mac and cheese baked with ghost mozzarella on top. Spooky, fun, and family-friendly for parties or cozy nights.
Ingredients
- 1 lb elbow pasta
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 10–12 mozzarella slices
- Sesame seeds or peppercorns (for ghost eyes)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted water until al dente, then drain.
- Melt butter in saucepan, whisk in flour, cook 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in milk until thick and smooth.
- Remove from heat, stir in cheddar and Parmesan, season.
- Fold pasta into cheese sauce until coated.
- Transfer to buttered casserole dish, smooth top.
- Cut mozzarella into ghost shapes, place on pasta, add eyes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Serve warm, making sure each portion has a ghost.
Notes
- Reheats best with a splash of milk to revive creaminess.
- Undercook pasta slightly if preparing ahead.
- For spicy “angry mac,” add jalapeños or hot sauce.
