Description

Creamy Halloween mac and cheese baked with ghost mozzarella on top. Spooky, fun, and family-friendly for parties or cozy nights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb elbow pasta
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1012 mozzarella slices
  • Sesame seeds or peppercorns (for ghost eyes)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in salted water until al dente, then drain.
  2. Melt butter in saucepan, whisk in flour, cook 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk until thick and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat, stir in cheddar and Parmesan, season.
  5. Fold pasta into cheese sauce until coated.
  6. Transfer to buttered casserole dish, smooth top.
  7. Cut mozzarella into ghost shapes, place on pasta, add eyes.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Serve warm, making sure each portion has a ghost.

Notes

  • Reheats best with a splash of milk to revive creaminess.
  • Undercook pasta slightly if preparing ahead.
  • For spicy “angry mac,” add jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • Freeze before baking for best results.
