Description

This buttery crinkle cake is a stunning dessert made with flaky phyllo dough, a creamy vanilla custard soak, and a sweet glaze. It’s irresistibly crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft inside—a must-bake for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Powdered sugar or icing glaze for topping
  • Chopped nuts (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Crinkle each phyllo sheet and place in rows.
  3. Drizzle with melted butter and bake for 20 minutes.
  4. Whisk eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla.
  5. Pour custard over baked phyllo and bake 30–35 minutes.
  6. Let cool. Drizzle with icing or dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Add orange zest or nuts for flavor variety. Keeps well refrigerated.
