Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole is a holiday favorite that’s stood the test of time. Made with tender green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and topped with crispy fried onions, this nostalgic side dish is warm, savory, and incredibly easy to prepare. Perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or comforting weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (10.5 oz each) cream of mushroom soup
- 2 cans cut green beans, well-drained (or substitute fresh or frozen green beans)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) crispy fried onions
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.
- Add the green beans: Fold in the green beans until fully coated in the soup mixture.
- Assemble the casserole: Pour the green bean mixture into your prepared casserole dish. Sprinkle half of the crispy fried onions on top.
- Bake and finish: Bake uncovered for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, top with the remaining onions, and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- Use low-sodium soup and soy sauce to reduce saltiness if preferred.
- Substitute with dairy-free mushroom soup and plant-based milk for a vegan version.
- Add shredded cheddar or mozzarella before the final bake for a cheesy variation.
- Fresh green beans should be blanched before adding for best texture.
